Holy crap...this is pretty cool. sprint just might convince me to sign up... question - who else in the US market is using this type of broadband technology - EV-DO and/or CDMA2000 - I've been a GSM user primarily, though I have previously had wireless service from sprint...back when phones were still bricks...

Especially with statements like, "Sprint Nextel distributed review units of a new cell phone equipped with EV-DO, the technology with which the company's network is being upgraded to offer speedier Internet connections and other data services."

Where do I sign up? Gotta track down one of those devices...stay tuned.

scored 4 tix to the u2 vertigo concert in vegas friday nov 4 off ebay. fun fun fun. last time I saw u2 was back in 1991 (?) in Saratoga, NY at the Saratoga Race Track. zoo station tour. crazy tech for back then. way cutting edge. primus and the disposable hero's of hipocracy were opening acts....

if the vertigo tour is anything like that one, this show has the potential to be pretty sweet. also recall reading an article no too long ago about the tech behind their stage and sound setup.

Talked to my grandmother today. Things not looking so good. She's likely to be without power for 10-14 days in her retirement community in Boca. Am scouring the web to find more info about who is eligible for individual assistance from FEMA. Also tracked down the closest Red Cross distribution center near in Boca Raton.

Wish there was more I could do from here in Seattle.

Am considering an EDGE-enabled wireless card as a new option for more reliable data connectivity via my mobile devices...can also throw it into my laptop (or anyone else's), which could prove useful in certain situations....

question is, is there something better available today? 6 months from now? on the horizon? ...sigh...the slow pace of innovation in the domestic wireless data market (3g, 4g, and beyond) continues to drive me loco.
